Sacramentans Against Arden Arcade Cityhood
No On Measure D
In Loving Memory of our dear friend and ardent No On Measure D Supporter - Carl George Knopke, Jr. You will dearly be missed. Love of all your friends at No On Measure D.
Sacramentans Against Arden Arcade Cityhood – No on Measure D is an organization that came together to defeat cityhood. It has grown into a coalition of homeowners, businesses, and community activists working together to prevent our community from becoming incorporated.
We are a grassroots effort that started four years ago to serve as the voice for those opposed to the Arden Arcade cityhood proposal. During the early years we fought with vigor the gifting of taxpayer dollars from the cities of Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights and Folsom who collectively gave more than $100,000 of public funds to a private group attempting to incorporate our community.
Later we learned that two park districts, Fulton-El Camino and Arden Manor Park and Recreation District misappropriated public funds by giving $30,000 of park money to the same small private group.
We also fought to have the cityhood proponents reveal their super secret donor list. What should have been a total transparent transaction of money changing hands, those on the cityhood committee led by their chairman refused to release their complete donor list. Thanks to several community leaders who came to our aid, the list was finally revealed prior to the final LAFCO hearings and the amount of money given by special interest such as waste firms and law firms was exposed to the public.
Between the initial incorporation committee, yes on Measure D campaign and 22 wannabee politicians raising funds, more than $420,000 has been raised to support their power grab of our community. We have learned that a sizeable amount of these funds have come from tax dollars from local cities, public funds from two park districts, special interest looking for fat contracts from a potential new city and relatives of the candidates.
We are up against a well-funded campaign of special outside interests who are trying to buy their way into fat contracts with a new city. We will continue to fight the right fight on behalf of the community. Every day we receive emails of support and request for lawn signs and at times struggle to keep up with the demand.
