Severe Lack of Property Tax, Sales Tax and Vehicle License Fee (VLF) Revenue Means Higher Taxes and Fees

Unlike many of the surrounding cities, there is no solid sales tax revenue in Arden Arcade which cities depend on to provide services to residents. Whether it is the massive closure of auto dealerships along Fulton Avenue, the 55% vacancy rate at Country Club Plaza, or just the pure economic factors all businesses are facing with the severe economic decline, it is a fact that sales tax revenues are at the lowest levels. Coupled with years of declining property tax revenues, there is no way a new city can deliver services without increasing taxes. If they tell you otherwise, they are not telling you the truth. YOUR TAXES and FEES WILL GO UP.

Another revenue source cities depend on is the Vehicle License Fee (VLF). The VLF accounts for approximately $6.9 million of the proposed city of Arden Arcade's annual budget. But because the State of California has its own financial woes, the DMV has been withholding upwards of 95% of the VLF revenues from cities across the state.

With so much at stake, the proposed new city would have to find other ways to make up the multimillion dollar shortfall. YOUR TAXES and FEES WILL GO UP to make up the difference.
